Let’s examine your prayer life. Ask yourself some basic questions. How often do you pray? When do you pray? Am I really praying or do I assume that I’m praying? Am I really spending time with God to talk to him or am I just stuck in routine, going through the motions every day and never spending time with God? You won’t be able to fulfill the plan of God for your life if you are not living a life of prayer.
Nothing changes or happens for good unless God’s people pray. God responds to prayer. The Bible says “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16 KJV). Prayer is an invitation we give to God for Him to do the things that we cannot do. Through prayer, we have manifestations that our human effort cannot give to us and experience supernatural visitation of the spirit of God. So, you can see why developing a strong prayer life is imperative in our walk with the Lord. Your prayer life has a lot to do with your future, your calling, and your assignment. It is the very foundation of our spiritual responsibility and causes us to become productive in spiritual activity. When you take your prayer life for granted, you risk losing a deeper connection with God and will find it difficult to continue in His will.
Praying helps you to manage situations in the natural. When you are not spiritually minded oppositions that can drown your destiny or purpose will arise. We pray because life is spiritual and there are so many spiritual activities around us. We don’t have to be ignorant to these things though. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says “Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” Prayer keeps us alert to the tricks of the enemy and allows us to stay focused on God. So, if we are not in the place of prayer we won’t be able to carry out the will of God.
Prayer produces boldness and the confidence to approach the will of God. In the place of prayer, we make a connection with the purpose of God. The condition of your prayer life with God will determine what you can handle and how you respond to things. When a you are not praying, you are unknowingly preparing for defeat and opening doors for the enemy. This is why we should always continue in prayer and never be satisfied with our spiritual growth. When you stop praying then you’re telling the enemy to come in. Living a life of prayer keeps your walls strong.
Mark 1:35 says, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
The condition of your prayer life will determine the revelation you can access from God’s word. When you pray, you have access to the supply of the Spirit and are positioned so that God can reveal more things of the spirit to you. If you want to deploy your potential you must be a person who loves to pray.
The best time to pray is all the time. Any moment can be the perfect moment to pray. You can be driving in your car on the way to work, preparing dinner in the kitchen, or brushing your teeth in the bathroom. Basically, don’t try and wait for the perfect time to pray because if you do the moment will never arise. If you focus on reasons not to pray distractions will always be there. Therefore, it’s best to pray all throughout the day.
Prayer is a place of submission because it is an indication that you trust in the God of Heaven to do something for you. Living a life of prayer takes discipline and dedication but if you develop a healthy praying life you will always be refreshed, full of energy and in a place of strength.
