God is so generous. With his love. With his grace with his mercy. He desires to bless us, not just spiritually but financially as well! Yes! Bless us with the deniro, the yen, the cha ching! Christ died not only to cover our sins but to bless us with a huge amount of benefits including wealth (Rev. 5:12). So, you, yes, you can live a life of wealth and abundance because Jesus died for you to experience that. I think it’s time for you to tap into that life through tithing and sowing. The word tithe is defined as one tenth of annual produce or earnings …. One tenth. Just one tenth. God does so much for us and only request 10% from us. So why is it so hard to give 10% to him? This used to be a huge issue for me. I would think “we have bills”, “we have things we need to buy” and “we need that money for something else this month.
I didnt realize how destructive this type of thinking was until someone close to me made the comment that I needed to trust God. Trust God?? But I do trust God! I thought to myself “what is he saying? I trust God!” But the more I thought about it the more I realized he had a point. I needed to be putting ALL my trust in God because He is able to make all grace abound towards me so that I always have in all sufficiency and can abound to every good work (2 Cor. 9:8). I seemed to have forgotten that the Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want (Ps 23:1). I was living like my Heavenly Father didn’t know what I had need of.
I realized I had to get my faith up. I had to let the Lord change my heart about tithing. And since I did we have had so many right on time blessings I can barely keep track. Not to mention helpers in the most unlikely of people and peace, so much peace. And joy. Joy in the Holy Spirit.
Wow… I just got encouraged all over again.
There were also times when the Holy Spirit would put it in my heart to sow a seed and give an offering. Sometimes He would lead me to sow a specific amount. Sometimes He would lead me to sow any amount. But take it from me, as soon as the Holy Spirit drops that instruction in your spirit, follow it! Be obedient! God is asking you to do that so he can bless you! Sometimes it seems like things aren’t going right. In fact, sometimes it seems like things are going all the way left. Those are some great opportunities to sow a seed to show God you are expecting an overflow from Him. That you trust him. That you want to stay faithful no matter what.
Now, I’m going to be honest, sometimes it felt hard at first but it is something that has become a habit for me and now I do it with joy. So, I encourage you find the joy in tithing and sowing seeds. Get excited about it knowing that God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory (Phil. 4:9). That verse doesn’t just mention riches in glory for no reason!
The Lord is here for us, to get us through every test, trial, and tribulation. So instead of worrying KEEP calm and tithe on! Instead of complaining about it sow a seed about it. And watch the favor explode.
