Faith can be weak or strong but there are principles that we can apply in our lives to help us develop a strong faith that will produce results to the challenges of life. Through this faith we can have great victory over the situations that are set before us. The first thing we need to establish though, is that, “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17. As we listen to God’s word it helps us increase our faith. This is why it is important that we make time to read and meditate on the Word of God.
Acknowledge the ability of God
Another key to developing strong faith is acknowledging the ability of God. Acknowledging God’s greatness helps to strengthen your faith walk. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above what we think or ask according to the power that worketh in us.” God is able to do far greater for us than we could ever imagine. In 1 Corinthians 2:9, Apostle Paul writes, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” When you understand that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than you could ever think, the obstacle before you will seem small because you know that your victory is sure. So, no matter what you’re going through walk in the revelation that God is able.
Confession of the word
Whenever you are declaring the word of God, it is proof of your faith walk. Many times when Jesus and his disciples healed people it was through speaking the Word. The confession of God’s word in itself is an act of faith. When you start believing that God’s Word works, you will see miracles, signs, and wonders. This is why it’s so important that you are confessing the Word daily, no matter the situation. The supernatural ability and energy found in God’s Word is unmatched. Psalms 107:20 says, “He sent his word, and healed them and delivered them from their destructions.” It is the Word of God that heals, delivers, and protects. When we speak God’s word, we release His ability into the atmosphere which will cause the change that we desire.
Attitude of obedience towards His will
When you have an attitude of obedience towards the will of God it will help you develop a strong faith. If you truly want to develop a strong faith you will learn to obey and put His word first. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added until you.” When you are putting God’s kingdom over everything else, you will find success in your faith. “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves (James 1:22)” Being obedient to God’s will means that you are a doer of the word. It will be easier for you to strengthen your faith if you are making a conscious effort to not only hear the Word, but to also put what you heard into action. Don’t let your faith in the Word of God waiver. If you are believing God for something, stand by it until it comes to pass. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10). Faith does not always yield instant results but it will give you more patience and strengthen your relationship with God until He grants you the desire of your heart.
If you want your faith to be productive you have to hear the Word, believe the Word, declare the Word, and have an expectation that that Word will come to pass. Even when there is no manifestation of your faith walk, strong faith does not quit. Strong faith believes that there are no limitations and with God everything is possible. Stay focused on the things that God has spoken to you because no matter what things may look like, everything is working for your good.
